The CM23 is the result of over 16 years of work with Claudio “Tano” Marciello. The humbucker was called with his initials and birthday (January 23rd), and is a name he chose himself. A few months ago, Claudio called and told us that the Heavy Custom II (DS38) had been his main sound on various Marcelo Bray guitars and that he felt it was time to install those humbuckers in his legendary Ibanez CN250. Imagine the number of songs, albums, and live performances that guitar has played alongside ALMAFUERTE, CTM, and so many others bands! For this reason, and because of the 15th anniversary of the Heavy Custom II launched, Darío thought the best way to honor that moment was to develop a new model, with the soul of that humbucker but improving on sound aspects that Claudio needed, always adapting to the construction characteristics, woods, and tone of that incredible guitar from the late 1970s. Having in mind all this, the CM23 was born and a dream come true all along with an immense joy for everything Claudio represents as an artist and guitarist. We will continue listening to those timeless songs that are part of the national legacy, as well as the forthcoming music that will surely come.
The DS80 is a high-output humbucker loaded with an ALNICO 2 bar that delivers warm highs, incredible mids, and a defined low end. Compared with the Heavy Custom II, the CM23 offers sharper highs and improved sustain. Protect by a thin tape, the magnet wire is wound very close to the metallic slugs and metallic thread slugs of each bobbin, providing extra sensitivity and sustain compare to any other humbucker pickup. Comes with a 4-conductor shielded wire for multiple wiring options. Proudly made in Florida-BA, this pickup is hand built in our workshop and wax potted for squeal free operation.
